Play hard, dress harder: the American Eagle x Tru Kolors collab story

Travis Kelce's wear-it-your-way manifesto takes centre stage for this drop

Athleisure had a major moment earlier this year and it’s showing no signs of slowing down. So it’s only fitting that American Eagle, a brand synonymous with denim, is expanding its cool factor into sporty-chic territory.

Enter the American Eagle x Tru Kolors by Travis Kelce line: not a token celebrity collab, but a genuine creative partnership. The NFL star spent time in the studio selecting fabrics, refining silhouettes, and approving graphics, all with the goal of making everyone “feel like there is something for them.”

Travis says he started Tru Kolors in 2019 on the premise of “showing up authentically and having fun with style.” That ethos runs through every piece of the collection from heavy vintage tees and reworked varsity jackets to cricket sweaters, utility cargos, and plush chenille or cashmere sets.

That same spirit carries into the campaign, fronted by rising tennis star Anna Frey, elite shooting guard Azzi Fudd, quarterback Drew Allar, wide receiver Jeremiah Smith, basketball prospect Kiyan Anthony, and Olympic gold medallist Suni Lee. Together, they embody the line’s balance of authenticity and ambition — clothing designed around movement, inspired by sport, but destined for everyday life.

As American Eagle’s President and Executive Creative Director Jennifer Foyle puts it, “This was destined.” Released across two drops in August and September, the American Eagle x Tru Kolors collection spans more than 90 pieces each built to stand out.

And if the mantra is “live to play”? Consider your new uniform officially upgraded.
