Welcome to the first-ever Dazed MENA 100 celebrating those decisively shaping culture and carrying the mantle, using creativity as their pressure point. Spanning the global majority, for some, they channel their purpose through film, fashion, photography, art and movement. Others, it’s through BMX-ing, music, writing, taekwondo, make-up or circus games. For many, in quintessential multi-hyphenate spirit, it’s all of the above.

Curated by Dazed MENA’s editorial team, the list spotlights innovation, passion, and purpose. Driving our launch issue, four of our cover stars, Wathek, Ethiopian Girl Skaters, Nemahsis and Nazarit Machin are part of the list. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, talent took a direct role in creating the stories throughout: in  ‘Bumping my ribcage against the wall of reality’ Photographer Emile-Samory Fofana and Stylist Jennifer Abeyratne teamed up to shoot youth in Senegal, Saad Khan created a special zine, and Mariam El Gendy shot a feature on Saudi’s leading indie record label.

While all incredibly different in every way, the Dazed MENA 100 talent have all discovered the same mission: create, demand and change.
