In honour of Mariam Riyad Abu Dagga’s unwavering legacy

On 10th August, photojournalist Mariam Riyad Abu Dagga was photographed in Gaza for Dazed MENA.

On 25th August, she was killed by Israel in an airstrike.

She was 33 years old and is survived by her son, Ghaith. 

With the blessing of Mariam’s family, we are releasing her images and quotes posthumously.

We honour her legacy as a poignant reminder that truth can never be silenced.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, 189 journalists and media workers have been killed in Gaza, marking the deadliest conflict for reporters since CPJ began collecting data in 1992.

Journalism is not a crime. Murdering those who tell the truth is.
