A knight to remember: Burberry’s AW25 collection
Text Zein Karam
Burberry closes fashion week with a collection that insists on injecting fun into sophistication. Daniel Lee has his work cut out for him with Burberry being the biggest show in London Fashion Week, but as always, he delivered a diverse and captivating collection.

Held at the Tate Britain, Lee kept the set minimal, drawing attention to the electric blue runway and the striking pieces that paraded down it. With a host of stars sat front row, including Lauryn Hill, Skepta, Nicholas Holt and a knight in shining armour. This year’s show had echoes of seasons past, yet Lee infused a sense of whimsy into both the collection and the event itself, with the knight being a prime example. The clothes were bright and cool, all contrasting the blue carpet perfectly.

‘It’s that great Friday night exodus from London. Long rainy walks in the great
outdoors to disconnect and day trips to grand stately homes’ explains Daniel Lee. The ultimate uniform for the cool girl who escapes the city on the weekend. Nothing felt lost or overshadowed.
The collection features updated heirloom pieces, including a knit and shearling cape with trench elements, equestrian jodhpur trousers, Saville Row-inspired tailoring, and trench coats in shredded chine damask, all highlighting artisanal craftsmanship. The trench coats in embossed leather show Lee’s strengths in being able to reimagine classics that seem otherwise perfect. Theres a romantic push and pull between modern and classic.

Every detail in the show was considered, including the extensive British talent walking down the runway. Naomi Campbell, Kirsty Hume and Lesley Manville and Richard E. Grant, all strutted down the runway. Whenever a designer invites a “non-model” to walk for them, it provides insight into their interests and tastes, weaving insights into their personalities.

Burberry’s show was a powerful testament to Lee’s ability to merge innovation with tradition. By infusing whimsical elements into the sophisticated design language the brand is known for, Lee has set a new tone for Burberry, one that feels both fresh and warm. The peace and serenity of the great English country side coming together neatly in a collection. As the curtains fell on this London Fashion Week season, it is clear that Burberry’s evolution under Lee is continuously rising and turning into hit after hit.
