1774 Birkenstock x Maharishi Mogami Terra Tech is built for movement, not hype
Text Dazed Digital
On a sun-bleached beach in Costa Rica, a pair of sandals dangle from a carabiner, swaying against a waxed cotton backpack. Hours later, they appear clipped to the same bag on a grey London street, backdropped by brutalist concrete and the hum of the city. This is the world imagined by Tyrone Lebon for the new Birkenstock x Maharishi campaign — a visual meditation on mobility, terrain, and tactility.
Introducing Mogami Terra Tech, it’s a sandal designed with movement, geography and cultural in mind. The collaboration merges Birkenstock’s anatomical foundation with Maharishi’s utilitarian aesthetic and reverence for nature. The result: footwear that adapts to the rhythms of real life.

Originally introduced as part of Birkenstock’s Active Range, the Mogami has been reimagined through Maharishi’s lens. The signature footbed becomes waterproof, embedded in a polyurethane sole that delivers traction across changing terrain. Twin straps – cut from suede and nylon – fasten with quick-release buckles reminiscent of tactical gear. A detachable crossbody strap system with dual carabiners nods to the M.A.L.I.C.E. kit developed by the U.S. Army in the 1960s, allowing the sandals to be clipped and carried with ease during barefoot stretches.
The collection feels in sync with a growing design ethos centred on preparedness, adaptability, and craft. Colourways evoke natural elements – think mud, bark, clay, overgrown fatigue green – while split-toe tabi socks extend the experience to colder or more uneven climates.

Also part of the drop is the M.A.L.I.C.E. backpack, crafted in co-branded olive and black. With 3D pockets, hidden compartments, and an expandable silhouette, it’s built for life in motion. Quilted interiors and a suspended laptop sleeve add comfort and modern practicality.
The collection is now available at maharishistore.com, 1774.com, and selected Birkenstock stores, as well as at MAHARISHI’s London and New York locations.
