Thinking of kickstarting your musical career? The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip7 covers all the bases

Samsung and Anghami want you to record that cover you've been thinking about (seriously)

If you have a passion for music, you’ve probably spent a fair amount of late nights on your bedroom floor, earphones in, phone balanced against a pile of books, trying to record take 15 of a Sherine cover that sounds or looks even half as good as it does in your head. The gap between the idea and its execution has always been the frustrating part of the artistic process, and that rift is exactly what Samsung and Anghami are trying to close with I Am the Scene, a campaign that proposes that your smartphone can double as a DIY creative studio of sorts.

To prove the idea, Samsung produced an original song titled I am the Scene / السين أنا, featuring two rising artists from different corners of the Arab world: Khaleeji singer Sultan AlMurshed and Lebanese artist Marilyne Naaman. The pairing of two younger artists, relatively newer to the scene, reflects the campaign’s wider message about how Gen Z across the region is taking ownership of the cultural landscape, whether that’s through memes, TikTok edits, or self-made tracks.

The accompanying music video is the first from MENA to be filmed entirely on a phone without any camera-enhancing equipment, and it was shot using the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7. Throughout the video, the artists are seen using the device as they move between recording, filming, and reviewing footage, showing how features like the Fold’s large multitasking screen, Flex Cam, and Nightography support the creative process. Add Audio Eraser and AI-powered editing tools, and the phone literally becomes a compact studio that fits in your pocket.

The campaign launched in Dubai at the Meta Rooftop, where media and music-focused influencers gathered to watch the unveiling of the video. Instead of the usual passive launch format, the space focused on interaction, with experience zones designed to let attendees test the Galaxy Z devices for themselves. There was even a claw machine stocked with Samsung prizes, including the Galaxy Z Flip7, which felt like a nod to the playful, game-literate culture the project is speaking to.

The initiative includes a competition taking place on social media, with an open call for submissions. Fans and aspiring artists are invited to post short singing videos sharing their own take on the newly released track, and tag the @samsungsaudi, @samsunglevant, and @samsunggulf Instagram accounts using the hashtags #IamtheScene and #أنا_السين.

From there, the stakes get higher. Shortlisted participants will be invited to an in-person workshop on January 12 in Saudi Arabia, where they’ll work closely with Sultan AlMurshed and Marilyne Naaman to create a brand-new song using Galaxy devices only. With no laptops and zero studio shortcuts, the workshop positions the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7 as genuine all-in-one creative tools, capable of handling everything from ideation to recording, filming, and editing on a single device.

The campaign will wrap with a final winner, who will receive a Galaxy Z Fold7 or Flip7 and a featured page on Anghami, making the real prize here access to the local creative network and a wider range for visibility.

I Am the Scene may not replace studios overnight, but what it does suggest is that the distance between having something to say and being able to say it well and to a vast audience is shrinking fast. For a generation that definitely has plenty to talk about, the pull of this idea is more than magnetic.
