Cartier’s LOVE Bracelet Gets a New Chapter
Text Meeran Mekkaoui
Few pieces of jewellery have managed to blur the line between fashion statement and cultural icon like Cartier’s LOVE bracelet. From Studio 54’s glittering nights to today’s influencer-packed feeds, it has remained instantly recognisable — a slim oval of gold, punctuated by tiny screws, that signals romance in its most audacious form. To own one is to join a club that spans generations and geographies.
Now, more than fifty years after Aldo Cipullo first fastened it around New York’s wrists, Cartier has given its icon a new lease of life. LOVE Unlimited takes the familiar design and sets it in motion. Gone is the rigid oval but in its place, a supple chain of links, each punctuated with the signature screws, that moves fluidly with the body. The effect is both luxurious and surprisingly easy — jewellery that feels as natural as a second skin.

Behind the elegance is serious innovation. Over a hundred prototypes went into creating the flexible structure, each component miniaturised and perfected. The clasp itself is invisible, blending seamlessly into the bracelet until all that remains is a continuous ribbon of gold. More than just a design flourish, it unlocks a new way to wear LOVE: connect one bracelet to another, pair them with a partner, or build a chain of endless links. It’s Cartier’s way of translating “love without limits” into something tangible.
A matching ring captures the same spirit in miniature, carrying the screws and gadroons into a smaller, everyday gesture. Together, they broaden the original manifesto Cipullo imagined back in 1969, proving that an icon can evolve without losing its essence.

Cartier’s latest campaign situates the story between Paris and New York — the twin cities that defined the bracelet’s myth. Lovers stand at its centre, guided by the Maison’s eternal Panther. It’s a reminder that while trends shift and aesthetics change, LOVE has always been unisex, timeless, and unmistakable.
