WHOOP wants to know how your year is really going
Text Dazed Digital
Most of us already know the feeling of trying to be better in theory. Sleeping earlier, stressing less, walking more, and becoming the person who has their life together before 9am were all part of our New Year’s resolutions. The next part is knowing whether any of it is actually working. That is one of the reasons why wearables have gone beyond the gym crowd and into the average person’s life, and why WHOOPโs latest release feels aimed at exactly that. With WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG, the conversation shifts towards longevity, recovery, and the small daily decisions that add up over time.
The new launch introduces two next-generation devices paired with a redesigned WHOOP experience, and the pitch is not just about tracking how hard you train. It is about understanding what your body is telling you more broadly, from sleep and recovery to heart health and the long view of how you are ageing. Both WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG come with a sleeker design that is seven per cent smaller, alongside a battery life of more than 14 days, while the brand says the updated hardware captures data 26 times per second and delivers far greater power efficiency than before.

The new additions speak to the current mood around wellness. People are no longer satisfied with vague ideas of balance or a general sense that they are doing okay. They want clearer indicators and clear feedback. WHOOPโs new features answer that appetite with Healthspan, which introduces WHOOP Age and Pace of Aging, using nine different metrics linked to long-term health. There is also Blood Pressure Insights, which offers estimated systolic and diastolic readings from the wrist, plus an updated Sleep Score designed to give a more accurate picture of sleep quality.
The most talked-about addition will likely be the Heart Screener, which includes an FDA-cleared ECG feature that can be taken from the wrist and shared with a healthcare provider. For those wanting that more advanced layer, medical-grade ECG readings are available exclusively on WHOOP MG, although the press release notes that this is a medically regulated feature and not currently available in every region.

There is also a broader attempt to make the platform feel more responsive to different lives rather than one single definition of performance. WHOOP is introducing Womenโs Hormonal Insights, designed to offer personalised guidance around how hormonal shifts can affect sleep, stress, recovery, and training, whether that means menstruation, pregnancy or perimenopause. Additionally, comprehensive fitness tracking now covers daily steps, VOโ Max, muscular strain during strength training, and more than 145 supported activities, making the device sit comfortably with everyday routines as well as with more intense forms of training.
The launch is very much catering to the region. Cristiano Ronaldo remains part of that picture as a global ambassador and investor, while Karen Wazen joins the brand as a global ambassador too. To widen the reach, the company is also rolling out three new membership tiers in the region. WHOOP One is priced at AED 699 or SAR 799 per year, WHOOP Peak at AED 919 or SAR 1029, and WHOOP Life at AED 1379 or SAR 1549.
WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG are arriving for a user who is not necessarily chasing perfection, but does want a clearer read on how they are living now, and what that might mean later for their wellness.
