Miss Lily’s and Honeycomb Hi-Fi finally have a third: meet Cocina Tres
Text Dazed Digital
Dubai’s most recognisable hospitality concepts rarely arrive quietly. When Miss Lily’s opened, it shifted how the city thought about nightlife, music and food sharing the same room. Honeycomb Hi‑Fi followed with its own cult logic, turning sound systems and vinyl culture into a destination. Now, VKD Hospitality is completing the trilogy with Cocina Tres, a coastal Mexican restaurant and bar opening at the Pullman Hotel in Business Bay.
Where its predecessors leaned into Jamaican warmth and Japanese listening-bar precision, Cocina Tres looks to Mexico’s coastline and modernist design language. The space takes cues from architect Luis Barragán, translating bold colour blocks, textured walls and geometric forms into a restaurant that feels immersive without tipping into theatrics. A ceviche bar sits at the centre, watched over by handcrafted details and a terrace that leans into light, greenery and movement.

In the kitchen, the approach is equally grounded. Led by a team of Mexican chefs, the menu prioritises traditional techniques, from handmade tortillas ground on a custom molino using imported Oaxacan corn, to wood-fire grilled seafood and share plates built around spice and balance rather than excess. Dishes like Baja-style fish tacos, fideo seco with prawns and the show-stopping pescado zarandeado anchor the menu in regional specificity, while keeping the format relaxed and communal.
The bar carries its own weight. Mezcal takes centre stage, joined by frozen margaritas, house infusions and cocktails that nod to classic structures without treating them too reverently. It’s designed for long evenings rather than quick turns, where food, sound and conversation are expected to bleed into one another.
With Cocina Tres, VKD isn’t just opening another restaurant. It’s extending a lineage of spaces that feel culturally intentional, socially charged and instantly legible to the city. Miss Lily’s had the dancefloor. Honeycomb Hi-Fi had the needle drop. Cocina Tres brings the table into focus.
